Artist Talk: Stephen Shames with François Cheval [EN/JP]

Please join Stephen Shames and the exhibition curator François Cheval as they delve into the time Stephen spent documenting the Black Panthers, his photographic practice, journalism, and human rights advocacy.
As the unofficial “official” photographer for the Panthers, Shames documented this dynamic organization from 1967 to 1973. His close friendship with Bobby Seale (one of the Black Panthers Founders) gave Shames unprecedented access to the unscripted behind-the-scenes moments that provide a unique view of the Panthers.
Bobby Seale and Stephen Shames co-authored a Panther book: Power to the People. There will be a book signing after this talk.
